God's last judgment (31 of 39)
James Merritt
Revelation 16
Introduction
1. There are five great days left on god's prophetic calendar which summarize the remaining chapters of the book of the revelation. In chapters 16-18 we see god's wrath released. The fury of god's wrath and the fire of his holiness are felt full force by a rebellious world who refuses to repent and accept the lord Jesus Christ.
2. In chapter 19 we see god's son revealed. The second coming of Jesus in all of his glory and splendor is seen as he arrives on a white charger, followed by his heavenly army, ready to do battle with the hosts of hell; defeat them once and for all and take his rightful place on the throne of this universe as king of kings and lord of lords.
3. In chapter 20 we see god's judgment rendered. Satan is bound for a thousand years, finally cast into the lake of fire, and the world is judged before god's great white throne.
4. In chapter 21 we see god's world renewed. We see a new heaven, a new earth, and a new capitol city, Jerusalem, where god's people will live forever.
5. Finally, in chapter 22 we see god's kingdom restored. Finally, after the rule and reign of Satan upon this earth, we see Christ enthroned, sin defeated and man glorified. We see "god in his heaven, and all right with the world."
6. But here in chapter 16 we see god's last judgment. "then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels, 'go and pour out the bowls of the wrath of god on the earth."' (v.1) the wrath of god is poured out upon this earth in seven bowls of judgment. With the pouring out of each bowl, the heat of god's fury is intensified and the force of god's judgment is magnified.
I. The deadly sores
