Introduction
1. We have noted before that john is pre- Eminently the apostle of love. John speaks more Of brotherly love and of our love for god and God's love for us than anyone else in the bible. It was john who wrote, "by this shall all men know That you are my disciples if you have love one for Another. I. It was john who wrote, 'for god so loved The world that he gave his only begotten son that Whosoever believeth in him should not perish but Have everlasting life. It was john who wrote "god is love."
2. Now it would be very easy to think that John did not care about anything else. He did not Care about a man s doctrine. He did not care about A man s deportment. Just-as long as a man loves God, just as long as you are one of god's flower Children" who love god and love your brother, that Is all that matters.
3. There are those who are saying the very Same thing today, it doesn t matter what you' Believe about the bible-. It does not matter what You believe about jesus. It does not matter what You believe about salvation. Their motto is let s Don't fuss or fight about anything. Let's just Love one another. Now that assumes that you cannot Fight for something or against someone in love, Suppose a man is delirious with fever- and is walking Toward some railroad tracks where- a train is Hurtling toward him, what would be-the loving thing To do? Why it would be-to go out and fight him if Necessary to keep him from going to his death.
4. Today there are those of us who believe that 2 We must fight for the bible and fight for the Fundamentals of the faith. Though we believe It ought to be done through love and in love.
