Sex And Pornography: Beauty And The Beast (9 Of 10)
James Merritt
Philippians 4:8
Introduction
1. We are living in a country today that has become the funnel for an open cesspool. An unseen sewer line is gushing filth into every state in our country. The stench of this filth can be smelled in practically every community. We live in a country that is glistening with technology, glittering with gold, and yet is up to its neck in garbage.
2. Someone has said, "not since manhattan island was sold for $24.00 has so much dirt been available for so little money as today." we have become a people who would not dare to put garbage into our mouths, yet we are rushing to put garbage into our minds
3. Who would have dreamed that in the richest country in the world; the most economically advanced nation on earth, that one of its biggest businesses would be peddling filth?
4. Pornography today is an 8 billion dollar business. Incidentally, 85% of this multi-billion dollar business is controlled by organized crime. How much is 8 billion dollars? Well, pornography makes more money today than the legitimate film and record industry combined. It makes more money than the movie industry and the music industry combined we are talking about big business.
5. Now i want to say that sex is a beautiful thing. It is a creation of god, and a gift of god to men and women. But just as man has polluted god's world that was originally given in cleanliness and purity, man has polluted god's gift of sex, which was also given in cleanliness and purity.
6. There are two things we need to understand about pornography. Pornography is sexual perversion. It is a perversion of something pure into something filthy. As a matter of fact, all sin is perversion. Profanity is a perversion of pure speech. Homosexuality is the perversion of a close friendship between two people of the same sex. Pornography is simply a perversion of sexuality.
