Last week as we looked at verses 11 and 12, and we saw that the Lord supplies all the power we ever need to make it through this life here on earth, but not just enough to simply coast through life, but the 'power in being powered' by ALL Power...and that's the KIND of power that can:
carry over into our prayer lives,
our relationship with God,
and our relationship with others.
And we get this power by simply ASKING and BELIEVING...
And we are given the Lord's Power through His Holy Spirit IN US... it's BECAUSE, and ONLY because we're "IN CHRIST"... so it is no little wonder that our own prayers should demonstrate our devotion to God, in a very passionate way, as well as a devotion and love to other people and a passion for our church.
I'd hope that you've been allowing Jesus to give you His power which is powered by all power, and that you've noticed the difference in your life. Let's now turn to the verses 13 and 14...
As we do, so...we must tie this back to part of verse 12...
"Colossians 1:11-12 joyously 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light."
You see, whenever we consider all that Christ has done for us, friends, we should be 'joyously giving thanks' to Him all the time...continually...Jesus saved us; Jesus gave us His Holy Spirit; Jesus provides for our needs; Jesus is our Friend; AND...He's there even when others aren't; He loves us; and He gives us His power and strength to go through life. It strikes me that giving thanks in all things is one of the true marks of a person's knowing Jesus Christ as his or her personal Savior and Lord. Which brings us to a question.... a question that I believe we all need to answer...and to respond to...
Do we give thanks to God the way we really should?
You see, folks, for the Christia ...
