Last week we found in our text, 2 Peter 1:1-2, that Jesus Christ must be central in our lives, He must be CENTRAL in the message of hope to the world... and when Jesus really is CENTRAL then we have a REAL blessing of grace and peace.
All of us should agree that we all need that blessing of grace and peace in our lives for living in times such as these.
But in fact, according to what Peter writes, the result of receiving grace and peace, doesn't STOP there... it is God's desire that it be MULTIPLIED to us through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord...
Now...Folks...you've got to understand though, that this multiplied grace and peace isn't some shot you get... in other words, it is NOT just something 'injected' into us, or not something that is just 'felt'... it is in part rather something that comes about 'through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.' THIS is NOT just head knowledge...in other words... It is NOT just reading about Jesus and saying... 'oh, that's nice.'
But instead it is what comes from allowing His living Word to be at work in our lives and by growing in our relationship with the Lord, Jesus each and every day of our lives.
Don't just say, yeah...that's true... Because folks, you know... we should really be asking ourselves just how it is that this comes about...
I don't know about you all, but I'm one of the HOW Question people... I just figure that since God says He wants this to come about, somewhere He tells us HOW...and He does...
In fact, when we do go to the Scriptures, we find out that there are some things that He has already been done FOR us... if you will...just look at verses 3 and 4....
Do you see that? For His divine power has given us EVERYTHING required for life and godliness...
This is the BIG part...because IF God had not seen fit to GIVE us EVERYTHI ...
