HOW TO BE HAPPY
Jesse M. Hendley
II Timothy 1:12
I want to talk with you about HAPPINESS. Happiness
isn't going around with a grin on our faces all the
time. The happiness the Bible speaks about is an
ENDURING thing and we want to see the basis for it in
God's Word. I got such a blessing for my own heart out
of this study this week that I wanted to present it to
you tonight.
All Are Sinners
The Bible teaches that all Christians are SINNERS. Is
that correct? Is that correct? Wait a minute, now.
Don't fool yourself. It surely DOES. "If we say we
have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not
in us." "ALL have sinned and CONTINUALLY fall short of
the glory of God." Some people instead of using Bible
terminology use "religious" terminology and it can
surely deceive us if we are not careful. The bible
teaches that ALL PEOPLE ARE SINNERS. There are just
different degrees of SIN.
Now, the fact that we are not perfect people brings a
sense of condemnation and robs us of happiness many
times. We need to get hold of the fact that we are in
UNION with the Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour. When
we BELIEVED on Him, we entered into A UNION with
Christ Jesus that will never be dissolved throughout
the ages of Eternity!
We read in Romans 8 that nothing shall ever be able to
separate us from the love of God, but THIS is a more
intimate truth. This is the truth that nothing can
ever separate us from CHRIST HIMSELF. It is a profound
truth. It is a tremendous mystery. It is the most
important thing in the world! To really trust Christ
as our Saviour and Lord and to make Him our very own,
in honesty and sincerity, is to be safe and blessed
forever. And God INTENDS that we shall have that.
Believing in Christ Brings Union
In Second Timothy 1:12 Paul says, "I know Whom I have
BELIEVED." There was no doubt in Paul's mind about
that. "I know Whom I have BELIEVED." The emphasis is
on BELIEVED. It ...
