ETERNAL LIFE! (3 of 3)
Jesse M. Hendley
John 17:3
Lord, as we preach the Word today, may some soul
receive the Lord Jesus Christ and, believing on Him,
receive LIFE ETERNAL. We ask it in His Name and for
His sake. Amen.
We have been studying about ETERNAL LIFE, and we found
from John 17:3 that the Lord Jesus says "This is life
eternal, that they might know Thee, the only true God,
and Jesus Christ, Whom Thou hast sent." We found out
that knowing God and knowing Christ means to know Them
in a real fellowship, in a real intimacy, to really
KNOW Them as God and Friend and Lord and Saviour and
the Lover of our souls.
We found out that eternal life involves life
companionship with Jesus. We found out that eternal
life involves a life of discipline. We have to take
time to pray, time to read our Bibles and let the Lord
speak to us. We have to take time for dialogue with
Jesus, talk to Jesus and let Him talk to us as we have
fellowship day by day and hour by hour.
We found out that eternal life is a life of joy, both
in this world and in the world to come and as we think
about the world to come, it will be joy! It will be
well with us in our glorified bodies. We will be in
the wonder and splendor of heaven.
The Christian life, then (the life of the person who
knows God and Christ) is the life of JOY. Eternal life
is JOY.
Do you remember Peter saying in one of his epistles,
"Joy unspeakable and full of glory"? Do you know what
he is talking about? Does your heart ever get filled
with joy that you cannot put into words? You try to,
but words cannot tell it. How can you express the joy
of knowing God as your Father and Christ as your
Saviour, your sins forgiven, your being a child of
God, born of the Spirit, taught of God's Word, on your
way to heaven, the Lord working through us now to help
others to know Him as Saviour and Lord, and a glorious
future out yonder waiting for us that God ha ...
