SOUL-WINNERS FOR CHRIST
Jesse M. Hendley
Jude Verse 23
"Others save, pulling them out of the fire."
I want to speak to you now from the Word of God, the
Book of Jude, verse 23.
America Is Sinful
I was riding in a train back during the Korean War.
The lady opposite me saw me reading my Bible and said,
"You are a preacher, aren't you?" I said, "Yes." She
said, "I want to ask you a question," and she came
over and sat down beside me. She told me she had a
son in the service. She said, "Tell me, why doesn't
God stop war?" I suppose I shocked her a bit when I
answered, "God doesn't stop this war because God
started this war. He is using it for a purpose." She
looked at me as though she thought I might be foolish.
Then I quoted to her Amos, chapter 4, where God says,
"Your young men have I slain with the sword." I
explained to her that God brings war upon nations as a
punishment for sin, that God is killing our young men
because of the sins of the American people, and
whenever nations are in great distress in war it is
evidence that such nations are in great sin.
I called her attention to the great tidal wave of
iniquity that is sweeping the country today, and SIN
HAS INTENSIFIED since that time. I read in one of the
outstanding magazines a statement (at that time) that
there were eight million homosexuals in the United
States. That means that at that time nearly one-
twentieth of the population of the United States were
guilty of a sin for which God destroyed Sodom and
Gomorrah, and it is FAR MORE PREVALENT today.
God is a just God and cannot fail punishing America
for her sins. He warns us that He punished the people
of Sodom "for an example" and they are "suffering the
vengeance of eternal fire." Jude 7. The Judge of all
the earth always does RIGHT. If He judged Sodom He
will judge America! I want to say to you, my friends,
that neither our nation nor any other nation will ever
get by ...
