THE LORDSHIP OF CHRIST
Jesse M. Hendley
John 14:21
In our last issue, we saw the cost of discipleship.
Today I want to share with you the blessings. What
will happen if I do love Jesus above every human love?
What will happen if I put His work of soul winning
first in my life? What will happen if I take all of my
possessions and seek not to lay up treasures on this
earth but to lay them at Jesus’ feet for His work of
winning souls to Christ? What will happen unto me?
He Will Love Me
First, He will love me. The day is coming in your life
when nothing will matter but the love of Jesus Christ.
I read in the book of John, chapter 13, that the
disciple whom Jesus loved was John. Why did Jesus love
this man? John loved Jesus beyond anyone else. There
is no other answer. There is no other disciple or
apostle who loved Jesus as much as John, who PROVED
it, because he loved Jesus more than his mother,
father, wife, children, brother, sister, and HIS OWN
life. He took up his cross, putting Christ's work
first, with everything at the disposal of Jesus. Jesus
was Lord indeed.
Jesus loves a man like that. The love of Christ comes
through. If you love others more than you love Christ,
there is coming a day when all that love will be taken
away. If you don't have Christ's love in that day, you
will be in despair.
He Will Make Himself Known
Secondly, He will make Himself known unto me. John
14:21. "He that hath My commandments and keepeth
them, he it is that loveth Me: and he that loveth Me
shall be loved of My Father, and I will love him, and
will manifest myself (make Myself real, intimate) to
him." It is wonderful to have friends in this world,
but there is coming a day when all those friends will
have to step back. There isn't but One Friend Who can
be with you at that moment, and that Friend's name is
Jesus. Intimacy. He will make Himself real to us.
Christ is not real to most people. Why? ...
