PEOPLE MUST KNOW THEY ARE LOST BEFORE THEY CAN BE SAVED

AMOS 6:1
I want to speak to you today on the fact that people
must know they are LOST before they can be saved. It
is tragic to talk to people about "salvation" who have
never found themselves LOST.
In Amos 6, verse 1, we read of people on the eve of
judgment who were at ease. "Woe to them that are at
ease in Zion, and trust in the mountain of Samaria."
Then verse 13, "Ye which rejoice in a thing of
nought."
Light Religion
Here is a group of people religious, but light
religion will not save anybody. They are at ease. They
are comfortable. Yet they are on the eve of total
judgment! God says in verse 9, "They shall die." He
says in the closing chapter. "Behold, I will raise up
against you a nation, 0 house of Israel, saith the
Lord God of hosts and they shall afflict you."
He is speaking about JUDGMENT that is coming, all
because they did not know Him and WOULD NOT find Him
out, and they were living in luxury and in unbelief.
They had religion, but they were lost. Light
religion will not save anybody. They were at ease.
They were trusting in the mountain of Samaria with a
tabernacle there, with false worship, false god, false
priesthood. It was all horrible to God, an
abomination to the Living God.
"You mean, Preacher, that there are religions that are
an abomination to God?"
YES. Everything that doesn't come through Christ,
everything that doesn't come in God's way, is false.
One of the outstanding facts of the Bible as you read
the Old Testament about the true religion of the
Living God, is that GOD CAREFULLY LAYS OUT HOW MEN ARE
TO APPROACH HIM, in such minute details that when you
read it you realize that God means we are to approach
Him IN HIS WAY, IN HIS TIME, IN HIS PLACE. WE MUST
COME TO GOD IN GOD'S WAY. Any old religion won't do.
Any old thing that comes up in your mind won't do.
