MY BODY, MY BLOOD---FOR YOU
Jesse M. Hendley
Luke 22:20
Friends, if you have your Bibles, turn with me to Luke
22, verse 20. Today we are thinking about the Blood of
the Lord Jesus Christ. There is not a richer blessing
nor a more comforting Truth in all the Bible than
studying about the Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. In
this message I cannot bring all that is found in the
Bible about that Blood, but we read here of Jesus
saying to His disciples at the Last Supper, "This cup
is the new covenant in My Blood, which is being poured
out on your behalf." "My Body for you, My Blood for
you."
Now what about that Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ?
Jesus Made Peace by His Blood
First of all, "He made peace by the blood of His
cross." Colossians 1:20. PEACE, by His Blood. How
could that be? What does it mean--- peace? It means
peace between the sinner and God, between my soul and
God. God is a Holy Being. He never thinks wrong or
speaks wrong or does wrong. But we sinners think wrong
and- speak wrong and do wrong. We are the opposite of
what God is. God hates our sin, but He loves us! So,
loving us but hating our sin, He had to do something
about the sin to get it out of the way so that His
love could come through to us. God's saving love
cannot meet you anywhere but at the cross! Jesus went
to the cross. God laid our sins on Him. He removed
them out of the way. And the result of the work that
He did, removing our sins, makes it possible for God
to be at peace with us. The war is over! There is no
more war between my soul and God, no more
condemnation, no more judgment. "There is therefore
now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus."
Romans 8:l. And we "come not into Judgment but have
passed from death unto life." John 5:24. JESUS MADE
PEACE by the Blood of His cross!"
That doesn't mean that WE made peace. Every once in a
while someone who is not informed about the Bible will
say so ...
