JESUS CHRIST CLAIMED TO BE GOD
Jesse M. Hendley

If you have your Bibles, friends, turn with me now to
the Gospel of John, chapter 10. Sometime ago an
article appeared in the newspapers saying that Jesus
Christ never claimed to be God. It was quite a long
article, the conclusion of some theologians. Friends,
there is much untruth in the world so don't believe
everything you read.

A young friend asked me, "Is it true that Jesus
Christ never claimed to be God?" Of course it is not;
Jesus did claim to be God.

I would like to prove it in this message. I suggest
that you mark these passages in your Bible for future
reference, John 10.

In John 10 we read that Jesus was at the Feast of the
Dedication and was walking on Solomon's Porch. Some

MESSIAH predicted in the Old Testament, the Son of
God Who was to come into the world.

Jesus answered them, "I told you, and ye believed

"Yes, I am the Christ. I am the Messiah. " Continuing,
Jesus said, "The works that I do in My Father's name,
they bear witness of Me."

Then the Lord Jesus said, in verse 27, "My sheep hear
My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I
give unto them eternal life, and they shall never
perish; neither shall any man pluck them out of My
hand. My Father which gave them Me is greater than
all, and no man is able to pluck them out of My
Father's hand."

Now listen. These are Jesus' words. Verse 30: "I and
My Father are One." He was talking about GOD, and they
knew it. He said: "I AND GOD ARE ONE." They took that
to mean that He claimed to be co-equal with God,
because immediately they started to stone Him! They
would not stone Him except for a capital offense or
blasphemy.

Jesus said, "Many good works have ...
