GOD OUR SECURITY IN THE STORMS OF LIFE

Psalm 46

Friends, I want to share with you today some thoughts
on "The Security of the Man Who Has God With Him."

I have here a letter from a lady who tells about her
daughter being expelled from school, running away from
home, disappearing. She does not know where she is.
Here is another letter, from a lady who has
deterioration of the eyes and nothing can be done.
Here is another, from a man going into the hospital
for surgery. Trials, storms of life!

God Our Security

Well, we have Security. There is a Perfect Security
for the man who has GOD with him. God did not say a
man would not go through storms, but He says, "You are
secure in them. I am going to bring you safely through
them to heaven."

Psalm 46

Please open your Bible with me to Psalm 46 and keep it
before you. I will read it and give an exposition of
it.

The Bible faces honestly the fact that life has its
storms, life brings troubles and dangers. This old
Book looks life in the face! The worldling wants a
holiday world, a paradise now, free from trouble and
trial. But it isn't here, and sooner or later we run
up against storms and troubles and dangers. The Bible
faces this honestly.

Psalm 46 says, "God is our Refuge." This is the Hebrew
word makeh and it means literally, "a shelter in time
of storm." The storm beats all around us but it
doesn't touch us. We are sheltered. "A Very Present
Help in trouble." The word trouble is the Hebrew word
tsarotb and means "straits or distresses." So life has
its storms, its straits, and its distresses.

The Psalmist says, "Though the earth be removed and
the mountains be carried into the midst of the seas."
Mountains, earthquakes, waters engulfing the land!
"Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, and
though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof."
He is speaking about life's testings, storms,
troubles, grea ...
