THE PURSUIT OF GOD
Jesse M. Hendley
Psalm 63

Let's think again about a man whose constant search
was to know God. This is true of every person who has
really been saved. His life is a constant search to
know God better, to get deeper into the knowledge of
God.

David said in this Psalm 63, "Because Thy loving
kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise
Thee."

David makes the statement here that God's love to him
is better than anything life has to offer.

Here is a man, let me repeat, who has found the TRUE
VALUES in life. The greatest of all values is to know
God! To know God, to enjoy His love, to live in a
love-fellowship with God.

This is a love-song. I say this very carefully. I say
this with reverence. I say this without fear, that
this is the song of a human soul in love with God,
sharing with God in a great love-feast. This has been
true of God's people down through the years. The walk
with God is a sharing of love one for the other. There
is nobody here but David and the Lord.

And so it is with each one of us, friends. The first
and supreme love is the love we have for God and the
love God has for us. It is a union of souls. "Because
Thy loving kindness is better than life, my lips shall
praise Thee."

Have you ever arrived at that? Have you ever in your
heart come to value God's love to you and your love to
Him? Your personal contact with Him, your fellowship
with Him, a living contact with Him is this more
precious to you than any other love or any other thing
in life? If not, you have not come to the place where
David was. But you can get there, and God wants us to
claim this through the Lord Jesus Christ. It is for
you and me as much as it was for David.

Three things come out of this experience with God,
loving God, knowing God intimately, seeking Him with
all the soul constantly.
