WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO AMERICA

Acts 17:26-27
“Blessed is a nation whose God is the Lord." Friends,
as we celebrate the anniversary of this country's
independence, may I ask this question? WHAT HAS
HAPPENED TO AMERICA? God's Word is very plain. We must
remember that the Bible says, “Blessed is a nation
whose God is the Lord.” And the opposite is true, my
friend. Cursed is the nation whose God is NOT the
Lord.
Inevitably, that nation has the seeds of decay in it,
and down it will go. Destruction will come to that
nation. It is interesting what God says to the nations
of the earth. To show that God Almighty is operating,
when a nation does not walk with God, inevitably
destruction must come, turmoil, conflict, distress,
all must come. Do we shut our eyes and think we can go
counter to God and His Word and it be well with us as
a nation? Do we think that? Well, we have acted that
way, as we shall notice by looking into the mirror,
seeing what has happened to America.
The Nation
First, we realize that God's Word is very interesting
as we think about the nation. In Numbers 14:12; God
says of Israel, “I will make of thee a great nation."
So God makes a nation great or small. God has made
America great in the past. In Psalm 147:20 we read,
"He hath not dealt so with any nation." This means
that God deals with nations. In the Book of Acts
chapter 17, we read that God appoints their dwelling
and the bounds of their habitation. Verse 26, “And He
hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell
on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the
times before appointed, and the bounds of their
habitation; (verse 27) That they should seek the Lord,
if haply, they might feel after Him and find Him."
That they might seek the Lord!
God's Will
It is God's will. He is the one that deals with the
nations. Men of the nations cannot say, "I am inde-
