It is wonderful to be " a believer." All through God's
Word Christians are described as "believers." What
does the word mean? What are we to believe?

If I were to go out on the street and ask everyone I
met, "Are you a Christian?" most people would answer
"Yes." "Well, what do you believe?" Perhaps there
would not be in their minds a concrete answer, "I
believe this, or I believe that." But we need to know
what we believe! So we want to talk about that today.

Christians are believers in the Bible, and in specific
things that the Bible reveals, certain imperatives of
the Christian faith. These things can be reduced to a
small number.

First of all, every true child of God believes in the
Scripture of the Old and New Testament as verbally
inspired of God in the original writings and that they
are the supreme and final authority in the matter of
faith and life. Now let's get that. The Scriptures are
verbally inspired, incapable of error in the original
writings. That is the belief of the child of God who
really loves the Lord. It is a tragic thing when men
do not believe in the inspired Word of God. Without it
there is no real faith. GOD HAS SPOKEN. He has spoken
in the Bible. God has spoken through the prophets,
inspired by the Holy Spirit. I tell you, with all my
heart today, I BELIEVE THIS BIBLE. I BELIEVE IT IS THE
VERBALLY INSPIRED WORD OF GOD AS ORIGINALLY WRITTEN
DOWN BY THE PROPHETS OF GOD, IN THE HEBREW AND IN THE
GREEK. There is not a single error that can be found
in the original languages. And because it IS THE WORD
OF GOD, IT IS THE FINAL AUTHORITY, AND EVERY CHRISTIAN
IS TO COME TO IT IN EVERY MATTER OF FAITH AND LIFE.
