HOW TO KNOW AND DO THE WILL OF GOD is the most
important truth that can engage the human mind.
Obviously, the most important thing in life is to be
saved, by faith in the finished, atoning work of our
Lord Jesus Christ. Every sensible person will make
certain of his salvation. The Bible declares that the
only truly happy man is he whose transgression is
forgiven and whose sin is covered, the man to whom the
Lord imputes not iniquity. That is, the Lord does not
charge him with his sin. Likewise, the most pitiable
man is he whose sins are not forgiven, whose sins God
will require of him on the Day of Judgment, the man
who will miss heaven!
To know from the Bible that the question of sin is
settled, that I believe in Jesus, that God loves me
and proved it in sending His Son to come down from
heaven and die on the cross, to hear Him say that God
laid on Him all the iniquity of my life, that He has
elevated me to be heir of all He has and joint-heir
with His Son of all His possessions and that He has
guaranteed to take care of me all through life and
throughout eternity---is the INCOMPARABLE FACT of
human existence! All of this is but THE BEGINNING of a
new life. It is the Life of God Himself, which Christ
brings into our lives when we RECEIVE HIM. It is the
Christian's daily life, and it is called in the
Scriptures, WALKING IN THE WILL OF GOD. What we need
to understand more than anything in life is what it
means to walk in the will of God.
What It Is Not
IT IS NOT living in the flesh, following and obeying
the natural desires of our hearts. Our human nature,
uncontrolled by the Spirit of God, can not lead us
into the things that please God but rather into those
things that displease Him. Romans 8:8, "If ye live
after the flesh, ye shall die." Galatians 5:17, "The
flesh lusteth against the Spirit and the Spirit
against the ...
