THE SURE WORD OF PROPHECY
Jesse M. Hendley
II Peter 1:19

In II Peter 1:19 we read, "We have also a more sure word of
prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a
light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and
the day star arise in your hearts." Peter says that the
world is a dark place. You and I are seeing that now. It is
getting darker by the moment in sin, in lack of knowledge
of God, in trouble, in distress, with sinners increasing on
every hand. But in this dark world in which we live, there
is a light shining. That light is the Word of the Bible on
prophecy. We are not amazed by the events that are going to
take place, because God said that they would and we believe
the Bible. This light of the Bible prophecy shines in this
dark world and shows us the path to walk so we won't
stumble and fall like most of the people of the world are
doing. If you walk in the dark, you will stumble and fall
over the precipice and get killed. We don't have to do
that, because God gives us a light that shines on the
straight and narrow path that will lead us through the
dark. Proverbs 4:18, "But the path of the just is as the
shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect
day."

Christ has been a lamp unto my feet and light unto my path
for sixty-four years. He has guarded me and kept me. I have
walked that pathway through the darkness and have come this
far, and by God's grace I'll go on. I have seen other
people fall by the dark. They didn't have the light. They
thought they could make it by themselves in the dark, but
they couldn't. But we have a light in the midst of this
world. He calls it "a more sure word of prophecy."

"II Peter 1:16"

Peter says in II Peter 1:16, "For we (the apostles) have
not followed cunningly devised fables. . .. "Somebody,
without thinking or examining the credentials and
evidences, will say, "Well, the Bible isn't true. It was
made up ...
