THE PRECIOUS BLOOD OF CHRIST

I Peter 1:18-19
"The Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ." This is the
foundation of it all. There are four thoughts I want to
discuss about the blood of Christ: The VALUE of the blood,
the VINDICATION of God's Holiness by the blood, the
REVELATION of God's heart in the blood of Jesus Christ, and
our SAFETY in the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.
"The Value of the Blood"
First, the value of the blood of Jesus. In I Peter 1:18-19,
Peter says, "Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed
with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain
conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But
with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without
blemish and without spot." We are redeemed by "the
precious blood of Christ." Notice that the word "blood" is
qualified by the word "precious." I checked my Greek
testament and found the word "precious" meant, "to be
valuable." "Of value" is the real root word. Valuable
blood. The most valuable possession any human being can
gain is what Christ bought by His blood: deliverance,
freedom, and total release from all judgment, guilt, and
condemnation. It is distinct from any other blood. All the
blood of every human being could not pay for my sins. The
blood of my wife could not pay for my sins, nor could the
blood of my daughter. It has been estimated that there have
been 77 billion people on this earth. All their blood put
together could never pay for my sins. It took the blood of
God. We must understand that. This is precious blood. It is
the blood of Deity.
Even if I gave my own blood, my own life, it could not save
me. If all people gave their lives for me, it couldn't save
me. But when Jesus came down and went to the cross and gave
His blood, one drop of it could wipe out all human sin.
