THE BLOOD OF CHRIST
Jesse M. Hendley
Hebrews 9:2-22
We have been studying in the Word of God in the Book
of Hebrews, and we have been seeing what Christ is. We
have come now to chapter 9, and here we have Christ as
the PERFECT OFFERING for our sins. That reminds us,
friends, that without AN OFFERING no one will ever be
saved. From one end of the Bible to the other, and
from the dawn of history down to this moment, men have
known that they cannot approach God except through an
offering. There must be a present for the Lord if we
are going to approach Him, an offering because of SIN,
something that will do away with sin. All men are
conscious of that fact, even those who do not live in
the light of Old or New Testament truth. Men
instinctly believe that there must be an offering for
sin, that something must be done to have fellowship
with a holy God.
There is only one perfect offering. That offering is
the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. In Hebrews, the ninth
chapter, we read that truth reiterated time and again.
In verse 2 we read:
There was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was
the candlestick, and the table and the shewbread;
which is called the sanctuary.
And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is
called the Holiest of all;
Which had the golden censer, and the Ark of the
Covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was
the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron's rod that
budded, and the tables of the covenant;
And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercy
seat; of which we cannot now speak particularly.
Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests
went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing
the service of God.
But into the second (that is, into the Holy of Holies)
went the high priest alone once every year, not
without blood, which he offered for himself and for
the errors of the people:
The Holy Ghost thus signifying that the way into th ...
