RUNNING THE RACE OF LIFE
Jesse M. Hendley
Hebrews 12:1-2
From the twelfth chapter of the Book of Hebrews I read
these words "Therefore seeing we also are compassed
about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay
aside every weight and the sin which doth so easily
beset us and let us run with patience the race that is
set before us, looking unto Jesus."
Running the Race of Life! You and I must LIVE our
lives. We didn't ask to come into this world. God
didn't consult us as to when we should be born. We are
not responsible for our entrance; we ARE responsible
for our exit. We are not responsible for the way we
came in; we ARE responsible for the way we go out. We
did not ask to be born into the homes into which we
were born. We did not ask to be born with sinful
natures. We did not ask to exist at all. God did not
consult us when He planned for our lives in this
world. God has a plan for you, and God has a plan for
me. One thing is sure: though we were born in sin, He
did not intend for us to leave this world in a sinful
state but that we should leave in peace with Him and
without spot and blameless before Him, that we may
enjoy His wonderful heaven, the place He has prepared
for those who love Him.
"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so
great a cloud of witnesses." The writer is speaking of
the men and women OF FAITH, mentioned in the eleventh
chapter of Hebrews. "By faith, Abel . . ." "By faith,
Enoch . . . " "By faith, Noah. ." "By faith, Abraham .
. . " "By faith, Sarah . . ." and Isaac, Jacob and
Joseph and Moses and Joshua and Israel and Rahab and
Gideon and Barak and Samson and David and Samuel and
all the others---men and women who went into GLORY
because of their FAITH in God's promises. They had
their minds set upon heaven! What a wonderful thing to
be a man or woman of FAITH. Friend, are you among
those who have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ?
After an infidel ...
