It's a Matter of Surrendering
Rev. Duane Bemis
Habakkuk 3:17-18
Good morning, beloved friends. This morning, I have been meditating on this statement which flows from every corner of my mind, "It's a matter of surrendering!" As usual, I find my heart, soul, and mind searching the Scriptures for the heartbeat of our heavenly Father.
If you remember in Ezekiel 18, in the last couple of verses, God tells us that He wishes all would turn, repent, and live. "It's a matter of surrendering!"
In the book of Jonah, we find the same message for the prophet, Jonah. For Jonah, he had to get to that point, within his heart, where he was fully ready to repent. "It's a matter of surrendering!" Once He surrendered to God's greatest plan for his life, a whole city turned, repented, and lived. So, "It's a matter of surrendering" for each one of us.
"It's a matter of surrendering" every person who has ever done us wrong. "It's a matter of surrendering" every memory which holds us to defeat. "It's a matter of surrendering" our failures and all of our shortcomings. "It's a matter of surrendering" to receive such a great salvation.
Even in the book of Habakkuk, we find the same theme:
Chapter 3:17-18 "Even though there is no fruit on the vine, yet will I praise Him."
"It's a matter of surrendering!"
In the book of Joel, we find the same heartbeat of God. Joel 2:12-13
"Now, therefore, says the Lord, turn to Me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning. So rend your heart and ...
