Read vss 1-2

Let's turn to Numbers 26 and see this truth in greater
detail.

Numbers 26

Read vss 52-56

The largest tribes received the largest amount of land
and the smaller tribes received the smallest amount of
the land. The lot determined the location of where the
tribes would settle.

Read vss 3-5

In this chapter we see the beginning of the division
of the remainder of the land of Canaan to the other 9
1/2 tribes. The division of the land was by lot, or
by, pebbles that were used to determine situations.
This way the land would be divided fairly and whatever
land you got, you got. We do know however that the
Lord was behind all of this, Proverbs 16:33. We also
see the reminder of the division of the land to the 2
1/2 previous tribes which we studied in the previous
chapter. We also see that the tribe of Joseph was
given a double portion of the land. Moses also left
clear instructions as how to divide the land. Numbers
34:16-29.

6 Then the children of Judah came unto Joshua in
Gilgal: and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite
said unto him, Thou knowest the thing that the LORD
said unto Moses the man of God concerning me and thee
in Kadeshbarnea.

7 Forty years old [was] I when Moses the servant of
the LORD sent me from Kadeshbarnea to espy out the
land; and I brought him word again as [it was] in mine
heart.

8 Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made
the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed
the LORD my God.

9 And Moses sware on that day, saying, Surely the land
whereon thy feet have trodden shall be thine
inheritance, and thy children's for ever, because thou
hast wholly followed the LORD my God.

10 And now, behold, the LORD hath kept me alive, as he
said, these forty and five years, even since the LORD
spake this word unto Moses, while [the children of]
Israel wandered in the wil ...
