THE EPISTLE OF 1 THESSALONIANS CHAPTER 5:18-28 (11 of 11)
Harley Howard
18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of
God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
This cannot, nor will not happen without the Holy
Spirit controlling our lives. In every single thing,
thank God, be grateful! Because, this is the will of
God in Christ Jesus to you. If you are not thankful or
grateful for your lot in life, wherever your lot is,
you are not walking in the Holy Spirit. And be warned,
ungratefulness to God is one of the marks of
unregenerate men and women and certainly we would not
want to emulate their lifestyle.
Romans 1:18-21
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven
against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men,
who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest
in them; for God hath shewed [it] unto them.
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation
of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the
things that are made, [even] his eternal power and
Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified
[him] not as God, neither were thankful; but became
vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart
was darkened.
So what should we be grateful for? Here’s a short
list, again, nothing material.
>> The faithfulness of other believers.
Romans 1:8
First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you
all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole
world.
2nd Thessalonians 1:3
We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as
it is meet, because that your faith groweth
exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all
toward each other aboundeth;
>> The food you eat.
Romans 14:6
He that regardeth the day, regardeth [it] unto the
Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord
he doth not regard [it]. He that eateth, eateth to the
Lord, ...
