When The Holy Spirit Comes To Church!
Pastor Steve N. Wagers
Acts 2
1. I recently read a sermon that spoke a web page entitled, "Red Letter Days." Created in 1989, "Red Letter Days," a business in England, offers more than 300 experiences as "unforgettable gifts."
2. For example, you can give someone an "unforgettable" driving experience from Ferrari driving to Formula One racing. There is the action gift that includes every thing from bungee jumping to tank driving. There is the airborne experience that includes flying vintage airplanes, hot-air ballooning, to sky-diving. There is the classic experience that includes backstage passes to a trip on the Orient Express.
3. You can pay £199 (roughly $380.00) and take a four-hour off-road obstacle course at the controls of a Honda Pilot, a quad bike, a hovercraft, a Land Rover and an Abbot Tank on the grounds of Belvoir Castle in England. If that doesn't interest you, there is a day's trail ride on a horse through the Canadian Redwoods for £135, or a three-hour recording sessions in a professional studio for £195.
4. You name it, and there is a probability that "Red Letter Days" can provide that "Red-Letter Day" for you. These "unforgettable experiences" can cost you anywhere from £49 for the blue experience to £1,000 for a gold experience. (1)
5. The day of Pentecost is without a doubt a 'red letter day' in Christianity. It is a day like no other day in history. It is a one-time event, and will never be repeated again. James A. Stewart said of it:
"God's calendar of salvation has in it two red-letter days: the day when the Lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world laid down His life as the world's Savior; and, the day when the ascended Lord bestowed upon the church the gift of the Holy Spirit!" (2)
6. What Bethlehem was to the birth of Christ, Jerusalem, on the day of Pentecost, was to the coming of the Spirit of Christ, the Holy Spirit. You see Bethlehem means, "God with us." ...
