Luke 24:23, Acts 1:9-11
Jesus came down from heaven. Was born of a virgin. Lived a perfect life. Ministered among the people. Then He went to the cross and there on the cross He died for the sins of the world and for my sins and your sins.
For about 40 days, Jesus in His resurrected body, walked upon this earth. At the conclusion of that the Bible tells us that He carried the disciples out to a little village called Bethany on the slopes of the Mount of Olives. From there, the Bible says that Jesus went back to heaven.
In the Old Testament we are told about two men who went to heaven without dying. We are told about Enoch who walked with God and the Bible says that Enoch was not for God took him. We are also told about Elijah. The Bible says that Elijah was caught up in a whirlwind in a chariot of fire. He went to heaven. He had an ascension, so to speak, without dying.
The Bible also predicts that those who know the Lord Jesus Christ and who are alive when Jesus Christ returns again, those who are dead in the Lord will be raised from the grave. Those who are alive, the Bible says they will be changed in a moment, in a twinkling of an eye. All believers will be caught up and go to be with the Lord. They also will also experience a kind of ascension experience.
Today we are going to deal with this experience in the life of our Lord which is commonly referred to as the ascension of Jesus.
There are several events in the life of the Lord Jesus, which you have to understand if you really want to meet the real Jesus. I've been talking to you about meeting the real Jesus.
