We are starting the second part of our three part Flesh and blood series today. The first part, we subtitled stories of skeptics. The second part we're gonna call stories of scars. And for the next several weeks we're gonna be looking in the gospel of Matthew at stories of Jesus' flesh and blood encounters with people who were wounded who were walking wounded, who had scars to show for it.

And I wonder how many of us have a scar or two? Yeah. I think you're gonna find this a really encouraging part of this series that's taking us up to Easter. As we get started today, I actually felt like God was leading me to teach from probably my favorite story of the go all the gospel accounts of the life of Jesus.

And as we get started on it, you're gonna find out that it's a little bit of a strange story for me to say my, it's my favorite because it's weird. I'm gonna be honest with you. It's got some weird details and you're probably gonna be like, if this is my pastor's favorite story, my pastor is weird.

Okay. And that, that's probably true, but this has actually become my go-to story when I am facing discouragement. Anybody ever faced discouragement? Yeah, this has become my go-to story when I am facing opposition. Anybody ever felt opposition to try not to live on mission with Jesus? Yeah. This has become my favorite story for all those things, and I think by the time we're done, it might be your favorite story too.

So why don't you go ahead and grab your Bible and start making your way to Mark chapter five, mark five. We're gonna be starting in verse one that says this they went across the lake to the region of the garrisons. Now the lake. They're talking about this Lake of Galilee. And for most of Jesus' ministry up to this point, he has been in the city of Capernaum, which is on the north shore of this lake.
