- You know, diving into the book of Leviticus can feel like stepping into a foreign land. I remember my own experience the first time I tried to read through the Bible cover to cover. I was making good progress through Genesis and Exodus, but then I hit Leviticus, and it felt like hitting a wall. The details about offerings and rituals seemed so distant, almost overwhelming. Can anyone else relate to that feeling? That's why I'm calling this series, You Lost Me At Leviticus. Because, for a lot of us, we get lost in a book like this!

- *Ray Stedman tells this story: When I first came to a new area to serve as pastor, I visited a church member's steel factory. Walking into that massive building, I was hit with a wall of noise-machines pounding, hammers smashing, and metal grinding. It was chaotic, and I couldn't even think straight. To make it worse, it looked like nobody knew what they were doing! Workers were running all over, machines were firing off in every direction, and nothing seemed to make any sense. But then, the church member came over and walked me through the place. He showed me how each machine and every worker played a part in the bigger picture. Finally, we ended up in the shipping department, where I saw the final product. That's when it all clicked. What looked like chaos at first actually had a purpose.*1

But once you see the end goal-God's call for holiness-it all starts to make sense. God set apart His people to be holy, just like He's calling us to be holy today.
