David Epstein grew up in a small rural town and moved to New York for college. He went to a supermarket the first time he ventured out in town. Walking through the supermarket, he noticed a little old lady following him everywhere. Every aisle David went down, the little lady followed him. Finally, as he approached the checkout line, she jumped right in front of him and turned to face David. She said, "Excuse me, and I'm sorry if my staring made you uncomfortable. The cashier rang up David's items and showed him a total of $127.50. Shocked, David asked, "How in the world can that be? I only purchased a few things."
The cashier said, "Yeah, but your mother said you'd pay for hers."
