INTRODUCTION

If you've got your Bible, turn with me to the little book of Titus.It's located right near the end of the New Testament. We will continue in Titus Chapter One.

We we are in a series of studies through this short but strong and stout book entitled, "Titus: Our Man in Crete."

The last time we were together, I shared that Titus was a man's man:

- Titus was a spiritual Chuck Norris.

- Titus was a spiritual Jack Bauer.

- Titus was a spiritual Ethan Hunt with a Mission Impossible.

Titus was the guy sent in when there was a rough, tough job, and nobody else wanted to touch it.

His name means something along the lines of honorable. It's from the same root word as Timothy's name, and Timothy's name meant honorable.

Titus was an honorable man. He was honest, dependable, and faithful. Titus was one of the faithful, fearless early church leaders. He was a loyal servant of the Lord and the companion of the Apostle Paul.

In Titus Chapter One, Verse Four, we're told that Titus was led to faith by Paul.

"To Titus, a true son in our common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior." NKJV

He became a coworker with Paul, and according to Second Corinthians, Chapter Eight, he went with Paul and Barnabas from Antioch to Jerusalem. Titus later went to Corinth to serve the Lord. After some time, Titus met Paul in Philippi and gave him a good report of the ministry in Corinth.

Second Corinthians Chapter Seven tells us that when Titus returned to Corinth, he hand-delivered the letter we know today as Second Corinthians to the church.

In 2 Timothy 4:10, we're told that Titus was later sent to evangelize in Dalmatia, the area known today as Serbia or Montenegro.
