Series: The Importance of Church Membership
Author: Jim Perdue
Text: 1 Corinthians 12:12-13

- Alright, we've never done this before. To be honest, I'm a little nervous but really excited at the same time. Today, I'm starting a short sermon series called, This Is Church! And here's what we're doing. This series will lead to something BIG in just a few short weeks.

- This a sermon series about the importance of church membership and why it matters. Here's the plan. Over the next three weeks we're going to cover a lot of our church membership curriculum. We're going to talk about what it means to be a church member. And on February 23, we're going to give many of you an opportunity to join the church if you haven't done that yet.

- I know that many of you have been through our Discover Second Class, you've signed the church covenant, and you've come down front to join. But believe it or not, we have folks that have been coming to Second for years and have never been through our membership class. And, we've got a lot of folks that have come through our class and never turned in their covenants. We have a lot of people who have come through the class, signed their covenant, then never take that final step to join.

- So, we're going to go through this together. Over the next three weeks, we'll walk through the importance of church membership, why you should join a church, and what steps you can take to partner with us in ministry and mission.

- You may be wondering, "What about me? I'm already a member of this church. Is this series even for me?" Absolutely! This will be an important series for members, non-members, and even pastors and staff. So, let's start by reading 1 Corinthians 12:12-13 as we focus on this sermon subject, Why Church Membership Matters. READ TEXT
