- We are in the middle of something pretty incredible here at Second.
We began 2025 with a sermon series called, Elevate: 21 Days of Prayer of Fasting. And you all know by now; this is so much more than just a sermon series. I'm asking every one of you to participate in multiple ways. I want you to pray, I want you to fast, I want you to commit to be here each Sunday and participate.
- *When we talk about fasting and praying, I know it can be daunting to some people. It may even seem foreign to others. But I have been blessed by how so many of you have embraced this. You have taken ownership of this process, you have prayed for the Lord's guidance and wisdom, and you have bought in to what God wants to do in these 21 days. And for that, I am so grateful.*
- We're looking at a few selected Psalms in this series. They are called, "Songs of Ascents." You may even see that inscription above Psalm 132 These were special songs that the Jewish people would sing as they traveled to Jerusalem for seasons of worship. And in Psalm 132, we see what it's like When God Makes a Promise. READ TEXT
- *When I started thinking about God's promises, I was reminded of a story about two brothers. The older brother said to the younger, "I'll give you a dollar if you let me break three eggs on your head." The younger brother, a little hesitant, said, "Promise?" The older one smiled and said, "Promise!" So, the older brother cracks the first egg over his head... then the second. By now, the younger brother is standing there covered in a mess, waiting for the third egg. He asks, "When are you going to do the last one?" And the older brother, laughing, says, "I'm not. That would cost me a dollar!"*1
