Luke 19:10 (ESV)
10For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost."
We can build a building...there is a start and an end..but we can never stop building people to Jesus
This morning I want to start a new series called "Cross the Road"..which is about evangelism.
We talk as a preaching/teaching team regarding the coming year and in my notes I had outlined this as something we needed to teach and unpack.
I am totally convinced that Jesus came to save sinners
I am totally convinced that Jesus has compassion for the lost
I am totally convinced that Jesus gave his life for our salvation
I am totally convinced that what is important to Jesus should be important to us
Evangelism is so important that it was one of the five-fold gifts Jesus gave to the church...
"And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,"
Ephesians 4:11-12 ESV
If the evangelistic gift in the church is working and healthy...you will have a messy church
I love "messy church"...Why? It's a sign of life...

A healthy church should be where a lot of discipleship needs to happen, a lot of work needs to be done.
A healthy church is a bit messy.
Because people are messy. Life is complicated.
A.W. Tozer quote "There is nothing so refreshing as to watch a new Christian before he has heard too many sermons and watched too many Christians"...
Let's unpack this parable:
Luke 10:25-37
25 And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test, saying, "Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" 26 He said to him, "What is written in the Law? How do you read it?" 27 And he answered, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart ...
