A wealthy man was surrounded by his family as he lay dying. As the time neared and his breather grew more labored, he whispered to his wife, "How much of it can I take with me?" She gently squeezed his hand and whispered back, "None of it, my love."

Tears poured down his face -- not because he was dying but at the realization that he had spent his life working for what he could keep. He devoted his life to accumulating what he could not take with him.

That story begs the question, "What am I investing my life in? What is my treasure? Where is my treasure?" Our treasures are those things we believe will...

- Bring satisfaction to our hearts. Joy to our lives.

- Bring peace to our souls. Meaning to our existence.

This is the challenge Jesus places before us in Matthew 6.19-24. In this passage He calls us...

- To examine our hearts. To do diagnose our hearts we must follow our treasures.

- To direct our hearts to what is eternal and what truly matters - to "Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness."

Matthew 6.19-24, 33 - "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; 21 for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

22 "The eye is the lamp of the body; so then, if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. So, if the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!

24 "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.

Jesus makes it clear, there are only two kingdoms. The kingdom of this world and the kingdom of God. ...
