Title: 2 Kinds of People
Text: Romans 8:5-11
CIT: Paul teaches the Roman believers that there are two types of people-those who live in the flesh and those who live in the Spirit.
Proposition: Every person should examine themselves and see if they are living in the flesh or in the Spirit.
INTRODUCTION
The point of this passage is that there are two types of people in this world. What separates these two groups is not race, wealth, or intelligence. The difference is mindset. Paul uses this phrase five times in these three verses. There are those whose minds are set on the flesh and those whose minds are set on the Spirit.
This morning, I want to ask you, what is a mindset? When people talk about their mindset, what do they mean? Is it the same thing Paul meant when he talked about what we set our minds on?
A psychologist will tell you that mindset is a set of beliefs that shape how you make sense of the world and yourself. It influences how you think, feel, and behave in any given situation.
In 2006, psychologist Carol S. Dweck made a splash with her book Mindset. She was interested in how people cope with failure and observed children who were given increasingly difficult puzzles. Some children threw their hands up in frustration and said, "I just can't do it." But other children sat down in front of a hard puzzle, rubbed their hands together, and said, "I love a challenge." Dr. Dweck said the difference was mindset, which profoundly affects the way a person lives their life.
This morning, ask yourself-what is your mindset on?
THE LIFE CONTROLLED BY THE FLESH

Flesh, in this context, is the Greek word sarx-not referring to physical flesh but the lower, sinful nature. In verse 3, Paul states that the law was weakened by the flesh, by sin.
