Title: He is Lord of All (8 of 8)
Series: Living Above
Author: Brad Whitt
Text: Acts 10:34-36
INTRODUCTION
Take your Bibles and turn with me to Acts 10. This morning, we will conclude a series of studies on what is known as "The Victorious Christian Life" titled "Living Above." These have been "lessons for living in victory."
I really do hope that you've been -
- helped
- encouraged
- challenged and
- strengthened
- to live above what you undergo as we've worked through the elements and essentials of the victorious Christian life.
Example: One of the images I've had in my mind as we've been in this series of sermons is the picture from the old cartoon movie that came out several years ago, "Up." The image I've recalled was of an old man who tied so many balloons to his house that the house took off and flew over the city and countryside. Now, if you watched that movie, remember that he still had his challenges and some problems, but even during all those problems and challenges, he was still UP, OVER, ABOVE all that was going on down below.
I think that's a pretty good picture of the victorious Christian life.
QUOTE: J. Vernon McGee, "The Christian life is not a playground; it is a battleground. But in Christ, we are more than conquerors."
And that brings us to the last thing - and perhaps the most important thing - that I want to make sure you grasp about this overcoming, victorious life: Jesus Christ is Lord of all.
QUOTE: Dr. Rogers always said, "He is Lord of all, or He's not Lord at all."
Listen to what Peter said in Acts 10, beginning in verse 34.
Acts 10:34-36, "Then Peter opened his mouth and said: "In truth, I perceive that God shows no partiality. 35 But in every nation, whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him. 36 The word which God sent to the children of Israel, preaching peace through Jesus Christ-He is Lord of all."
