1.0 We Learn About Laying on of Hands (Heb. 6:1-2)!

1.1 The meaning of Laying on of Hands:

A) It is a foundational doctrine that's taught in the first stages of our Christian walk.

Hebrews 6:1-2 (NIV)-"1 Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God, 2 instruction about cleansing rites, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment."

B) Jesus practiced it throughout His ministry.

Mark 5:22-23 (NIV)-"Then one of the synagogue rulers, named Jairus, came there. Seeing Jesus, he fell at his feet and pleaded earnestly with him, 'My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live.'"

1.Jairus had faith that through the laying on of hands his daughter would be healed.

2.You must also demonstrate faith in God's use of this spiritual practice.

1.2 5 Purposes of Laying on of Hands

#1: Spiritual & Natural Blessings.

Mark 10:15-16 (NIV)-"15 Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." 16 And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them."

1. A spiritual blessing occurred at the instance Jesus placed His hands on the children.

2. This included the meeting of their present and future needs that God identified. This includes God's favor.

#2: Healing & Deliverance

Mark 6:5-6 (NIV)-while in his hometown Jesus noticed: 5"He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. 6And he was amazed at their lack of faith."
