Title: God's Blueprint for a Spiritually Healthy Life (3 of 3)
Series: Healthy
Author: Jordan Easley
Text: Colossians 3:12-17
For a lot of people, if you were to ask them the question... "Are you healthy?" ...they would automatically think about their physical health. (Their body, their cholesterol, their muscles, their physical makeup). For some, if you were to ask them that same question, (Are you healthy?) ...they'd first think about their mental health. (Am I depressed? Am I anxious? Am I sad?). If the question is asked, "Are you healthy?" The majority of people think about physical health... a handful think about mental health... But very few people would hear that question... and automatically think about their spiritual health.
And yet, when you study God's word and you see how God designed this thing called 'health' -it's abundantly clear that God's desire for all of us... is that we would be holistically healthy. (Mind, body, and soul)
In [3 John 2] John said, "Dear friend, I pray that you are prospering in every way and are in good health, just as your whole life is going well." He reminds us here that God cares about our holistic well-being.
***I think about it this way... (3-legged stool). This is an example of how God designed each of us. (Physical... Mental... Spiritual) ... and the goal is for us to prioritize our health in each of these 3 areas. Because when we do... Scripture says, we'll have a balanced and healthy life. What did John say? "prospering in every way and are in good health, just as your whole life is going well." Right? But here's how it tends to look for most of us...
Physically-Take care of the Temple. The Bible says, Your body is a temple of God. Your body is occupied by God. Your body belongs to God. Therefore, it's not okay when we pollute God's temple... our job is to steward our bodies well, and care for God's Temple. (So, we prioritize on our physical health)
