1. That clip you just saw is from a history making series livestreamed called "The Chosen." It is the first multi-season series about the life and ministry of Jesus ever put on the screen. It was totally crowd-funded. Viewers contributed 40 million dollars toward making it happen and it has taken off like a rocket. It has been translated into 600 languages, 110 million people have viewed at least part of one episode and it has been livestreamed 500 million times.

2. There is a statement that Jesus makes in this series that has become his signature line in response to something that Peter said to him when he was teaching about how to live life and how to love others. Peter looked at Jesus and said, "Well, that's different" to which Jesus replied, "Get used to different." For many years, I have been thinking about preaching through the greatest sermon that has ever been preached. It can be read in roughly ten minutes and yet of all the things that Jesus taught this sermon has been written about more, studied more, examined more and talked about more than anything else that Jesus ever taught. We are going to entitle this series, "Get Used To Different," because that is exactly what you are going to have to get used to if you are going to take Jesus seriously and trust in Jesus completely.

3. For this year, we are going to be planting ourselves in a gospel called Matthew, in chapters 5,6, and 7. Let me give you the background of what is going on. This is the first major event in the ministry of Jesus. You might say this was his public debut. He has been baptized, has been tempted by the devil in the wilderness, has called twelve disciples and takes the stage front and center. You might think he would come in with bells, whistles, horns blowing and some splashy entr ...
