Title: The Miracle of the Message (2)
Series: Miracles of Christmas
Author: Jim Perdue
Text: Hebrews 1:1-2
- Last week, we began a short Christmas series called Miracles of Christmas. If we spent time talking about all of the miracles of Christmas, this would be a very long sermon series. But, for the purposes of this series, we are only looking at three miracles. Last week, we saw The Miracle of the Moment from Galatians 4. Next Sunday, we'll talk about The Miracle of the Manger from John 1. Today, from Hebrews 1:1-2 we'll see The Miracle of the Message.

- *Maybe you've heard the story before called, The Man and the Birds. It's a story that illustrates the beauty of the incarnation and the message of Christmas. There was a kind and decent man who, despite his generosity and upright character, struggled to believe in the story of the Christmas-that God would become flesh. One snowy Christmas Eve, while his family went to church, he stayed home. As the storm worsened, he noticed a flock of birds outside, struggling in the freezing cold. Compassion moved him to act. He thought of his warm barn and decided to lead them there for shelter. He tried everything. He opened the barn doors, scattered breadcrumbs, and waved his arms to guide them in, but nothing worked. The birds were too frightened to trust him. In his frustration, he thought, "If only I could become one of them-if I could be a bird-I could show them the way to safety and warmth." At that moment, the church bells rang, and the man suddenly understood. He sank to his knees in the snow as the realization washed over him: this is what God did for us in Christ. Humanity was lost, afraid, and unable to hear God's message. So,God sent His Son, Jesus, to become one of us-to speak our language, to show us the way, and to lead us into the safety of His presence.
