Text: Genesis 45

CIT - Joseph reveals himself to his brothers.

PROPOSITION -

INTRODUCTION:

Context: Joseph has been testing his brothers. Before he reveals himself to them he must know if they are the same conniving, spiteful, murderous men that sold him off to Ishmaelite slave traders 20 years ago.

Thought these tests the Holy Spirit has been at work in the brothers.

In this passage tonight we find three wonderful Bible truths portrayed through Joseph.

I) REVELATION - vs. 1-8

Context:

Joseph has demanded that the brothers not return without their younger brother Benjamin.
When Benjamin arrives, Joseph feeds them in his own home. Joseph has one final test for the brothers. He has his steward place his silver cup in Benjamin's sack of grain as they leave. Joseph's steward follows them and accuses them of stealing the cup. The Steward demands that the brothers hand over Benjamin, and that he serve as his master's slave.

Joseph's test have come to a head. They could abandon Benjamin as they did Joseph and return home. But they don't. They return to Egypt and throw themselves at Joseph's feet. Judah begs him to let Benjamin go, and offers to remain in his place.

These men have changed. They have been transformed by the work of God in their lives.
