Title: Transformed by the Gospel (7)
Series: Dreamer
Author: Collin Wimberly
Text: Genesis 44
CIT - Joseph's brothers actions prove that they are changed men.
Proposition - The Gospel transforms people.
INTRODUCTION:
ILLUS: Extreme makeovers are in. Of the 6.6 million cosmetic-plastic-surgery patients in 2002, nearly a third had multiple procedures at the same time. In our passage we find the Grace of God transforming Joseph's brothers.
Context: The brothers have returned to Egypt with Benjamin. Unexpectedly, they were brought into the home of the Prime Minister of Egypt, unknown to them this man, the most powerful man in the world, is their own brother Joe. They had betrayed him, sold him into slavery, and counted him as dead.
They encountered mercy in Joe's house. They have been fed, entertained, and spent a wonderful evening and night in the home of Joseph. This is much more than they deserve. In this, Joe is wonderful portrait of Christ.
Content: Now, we will see the transformation, the change that God works in the hearts of his own.
