I read a story this week about an old farmer taking his farmhand to task for carrying a lantern when he went calling on his girl. He said, "When I was courting my wife, I never carried a lantern - I went in the dark." To which his hired man said, "And look what you got!"
It goes w/out saying that Light - is a blessing b/c if for no other reason, it exposes the darkness to reveal to us truth/reality. But DYK most types of light are invisible to the human eye as we only see optical light which is but 1% of the total electromagnetic spectrum. In fact, in total, there are (7) types of light including x-rays, microwaves, gamma rays, radio waves, ultraviolet light, infrared light, and optical (visual) light. Meaning - there's more to light than meets the eye.
The most interesting quality of light is that it can't be bound by darkness b/c to have darkness requires the absence of visible light. Meaning light always wins b/c darkness is subservient to light. So, if we took a match or pin-light in a dark space - this tiny light would win.
In case you're unaware - the idea of light plays a big role in God's story. From the beginning when God said let there be light, to the pillar of fire that led the Israelites thru the wilderness, to the announcement of Jesus being the light of the world - we learn that God is light and in Him there is no darkness at all.
I share this b/c it's no small thing the prophets referred to Jesus as the Light of the World. See Isaiah 9:2, 6-7.
