If you have your Bible, please turn to First Timothy chapter 1. I want to talk about this subject: "A Fight to the Finish."

Now, from the time I was in high school, I began to follow the Houston Oilers. And I really started liking the Houston Oilers when they drafted the running back from the University of Texas, the Tyler Rose, Earl Christian Campbell. I think Earl was everybody's favorite player, unless you were on defense, and then you didn't like him. He was a load deluxe. Well, the Oilers were so fun in those days. We had Luv Ya Blue, and then after Bum Phillips and Earl Campbell and Dan Pastorini, those guys when they went off the scene, then we had Warren Moon. And everybody was excited about the "Run and Shoot" with Jack Pardee. On January 3, 1993, we were playing the Buffalo Bills. And it was quite a game. Houston was playing great. We were up 28 to 3 at half-time. And you didn't want to get too excited if you were an Oilers fan because you knew that Houston had the unique ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. And so we were up 28-3. I was calling my buddy Mike, saying, "Hey, we're playing really good. It's looking good, this play-off game." And then, in the third quarter, we intercepted a pass and ran it back for a touchdown. We were up 35 to 3. I called back my buddy Loerch, and I said, "Hey, Loerch, not even the Oilers can lose this game." But I was wrong. They surprised me yet again. Midway through the third quarter till the end of the game, they gave up 38 points. They only scored 3. We lost in overtime by 3 points, 41 to 38. It was the biggest collapse in the history of the NFL. Now, why did the Oilers collapse like that? Well, you could come up with many reasons. I think it's because we quit fighting to the finish. We thought we had the game in the bag. We lost our edge, we lost the moment, and we lost the gam ...
