Today, we're launching a new series called, Happily Generous.

Everyone wants to be happy. Most people want to be generous.

But how many of us understand the mysterious connection between the two pursuits? You might even say the road to happiness is paved with generosity.

A key verse in our series is a line in red letters foundlate in the book of Acts:

"It is more blessed to give than to receive" (Acts 20:35).
Or as Eugene Peterson phrases it, "You're far happier giving than getting."

- Can you imagine it? Have you experienced it?

- Would you like to experience it more? Me too.

If so, we're going to have to recenter our reality.
The idols of this world...Possessions, Popularity, Power, and Prestige... clamor for our attention and claim to bring us the life we've always wanted.

But their promises are empty and chasing worldly pursuits leaves us exhausted.

- Do you want to live a POINTLESS life or a PRICELESS life?

- An ORDINARY life or a BLESSED life?

- A SELFISH, MISERABLE life or a HAPPILY GENEROUS life? The choice is yours.

As we begin this series, I want you to keep a few things in mind.

First, it's not wrong to receive. Jesus never implied it was wrong to be on the receiving end of a generous gesture. Jesus washed the feet of his disciples, but he also allowed a woman to anoint his own feet with expensive perfume.

Our Savior encourages us to ask, seek, knock, and promises to give, reveal, and open. James 1:17 says, "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifti ...
