Intro:
I was in my final year of college. After working the night shift at The Home Depot, I found myself extremely tired and knew that I had to push through class to get to bed. It was the first class of the morning with Dr. Brothers, who was teaching a class that I can't even remember but I remember that I was tired, sitting beside our (Jenny and I) friend Jill at the back of the classroom, and the story that he told.
He was leading a church service in North Carolina and things were about to wrap up. All of sudden an elderly woman came forward, walked up to him, and started going off on him. There wasn't anything that he said that would remotely initiate hate speech or wanting to assault him. Then security team volunteers approached her before she attempted to assault him. It took four of them to hold down an elderly woman. Who then started to speak with a deep distorted voice as he approached. In this moment, he understood that he was not talking with an elderly woman.
I was fully awake.
Imagine a soldier who knows they're being deployed and chances are high that they will see combat. They wouldn't step out onto the field without training, tactical gear, and weapons. Now suppose they think they could fight on their own, without their team, or with no idea who the enemy is or where they're hiding-complete Jason Bourne. That soldier most likely would be taking a "L". The stakes in a battle are high-so preparation is everything.
