We have done:
Obadiah - Pride blinds us to reality.
Judah - Stay true to the Word of God, Hate sin, follow Jesus, and remember God is Able!!
Philemon - The power of repentance and forgiveness.
So today let's do a x2 (like a podcast) of 2nd and 3rd John.
We would really do a series in these 2 chapters and call it - WALKING IN TRUTH!
I am going to attempt to go through both chapters completely in a 30K view...
2nd John
1 [NIV] The elder, John is 90+ and is at the end of his life... why the letters are so short... he knows how to get the point across quickly now.
To the lady chosen by God and to her children, I believe he is writing to an actual lady not to "the church" whom I love in the truth-and not I only, but also all who know the truth- 2 because of the truth, which lives in us and will be with us forever:
Walking in Truth
This is a lady walking in TRUTH and leading her kids to walk in TRUTH.
You see the THEME here?
Not what the culture of the day is calling TRUTH
Culture today wants us to believe that if you believe it is TRUTH then it is TRUTH.
It's called Relativism - It's the belief that truth is not absolute but varies depending on culture, personal perspective, or circumstances.
What's true for you may not be true for me."
Yet 5x's in 2nd John and 6x's in 3rd John... in his last letters, he keeps bringing up TRUTH...
Listen to me... John says... THE LINES ARE NOT BLURRED!
TRUTH is found in JESUS and held firm in his WORD!
This lady lived it out...
John is speaking of...
The TRUTH of JESUS
John 14:6: [NIV] "I am the way, the truth, and the life."
TRUTH of the Word of God
John 17:17 [NIV] "Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth."
And John says... That truth has unified their hearts.
Listen... TRUTH is a UNIFIER!!
