Isa 9:6 KJV - For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

What is Advent?

Advent is celebrated during the first four Sundays before Christmas, sometimes it even begins in November. The season really ends on Christmas Eve, which is always on December 24th, as many churches celebrate the ending of the holiday by having a Christmas Eve service.

We do not actually know for sure when the church began celebrating this holiday, though most attribute it to beginning in or around the 5th century. As of this year's Advent Celebration, we begin with this series of sermons:

- Sunday December 1st (Candle 1 - Represents Hope)

- Sunday December 8th (Candle 2 - Represents Peace)

- Sunday December 15th (Candle 3 - Represents Joy)

- Sunday December 22nd (Candle 4 - Represents Love)
