Jesus Came to do the Father's Will | John 6:35-40 | New Year's Eve
- As 2023 comes to a close today ... what have you been committed to in 2023?
- What would an audit of our finances, our time, our energy ... say about our commitments for this year? As 2024 begins tomorrow ... what do you hope to be committed to?
- What we tend to be committed to is ... WHATEVER WE WANT. - Our desires.
- As believers our desire are to be shaped by God. Our will is to be shaped by His will.
- We should be a people that most desires ... God's will.
- The world is as it is ... because people don't do the will of God. - Sin is the exact opposite of God's will, it's rebellion against God's will.
- Jesus told us to pray ... "Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven." - That should be our desire, our heartbeat ... God's will on earth ... in our lives, our families, etc.
- We have been looking all through Advent at Why Jesus Came. I want to continue that today ... by looking in John 6 at the fact Jesus said ... He came to do the will of the Father.
John 6:35-40 - 35 Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not
hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. 36 But I said to you that you have seen
me and yet do not believe. 37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever
comes to me I will never cast out. 38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own
will but the will of him who sent me. 39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should
lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day. 40 For this is the will of
my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life,
and I will raise him up on the last day."
- CONTEXT: Jesus had just performed a miracle of feeding 5,000 men plus women and children with only 5 loaves ...
