Title: Jude (2)
Series: Pocket Sized Passages
Author: Brian Mills
Text: Jude
We started a series 2 weeks ago called Pocket Sized Passages where we are going through the 1 chapter books of the bible.
Books that are not preached often.
2 weeks ago we looked at Obadiah - Pride blinds us to reality.
This week we will find ourselves in the N.T. in JUDE.
A book written around the same time as 1 and 2 Timothy and Titus.
Culturally we are in a time of
- Many false teachers creeping into the church
- Some Persecution yet more social pressure to downplay Biblical Truth
- Many were using grace as an excuse for sexual immorality and worldly behaviors and getting others to follow their ways
So JUDE Addresses this to the Christian Church
Jude is writing to all churches.
Which was a common practice. Write a letter, then pass it around to churches.
So let's get into... Jude
[NIV] 1 Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and a brother of James, This James is believed to be James, the leader of the Jerusalem church and the half-brother of Jesus.
To those who have been called, who are loved in God the Father and kept for Jesus Christ:
SO MUCH HERE... So much encouragement here!!!! As I studied JUDE I really wanted to spend weeks on it!!!!
Let me give this to you quickly...
Those Called:
Called means in Greek "to call" or "to summon."
Jude is writing to those who answered the Call of God to follow Him!
When you are called you get the choice to answer it. Texted you get the choice to respond.
?Sometimes you do and sometimes you don't. YOUR CHOICE
Jude is writing to those who have responded to God's call.
Then JUDE encourages them... who are loved in God the Father
Jude affirms their value and status as beloved Children of God.
I wonder who needs that today... Just some affirmation that you do matter:
?
You answer the Call to follow Jesus
?
Today He affirms that ...
